We became B Corp certified for the badge.

Just kidding.

It’s nice to have. But we’re really on this path because we want to do good for the world. A B Corp is a certification for businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

That’s the gist of it, but we thought it would be nice to get unique perspectives from the team.

Each member shares their take on what achieving B Corp certification means to them. It highlights the diverse values that drive our marketing agency.

Let’s take a closer look.

“As a business, we’ve long talked about doing things the right way, but it often felt more like an abstract idea without much substance. Despite our efforts, it seemed like we were just paying lip service or jumping on a bandwagon. B Corp certification has changed that, giving us concrete validation. It’s an internationally recognised standard, and it’s incredible to align our business with other respected brands committed to ethical practices.

The certification process is intensive and demanding. It required a significant investment of time and resources just to submit our impact assessment. Seeing all that hard work acknowledged and validated as a small business is immensely gratifying.

Now, the real work begins. Maintaining our B Corp status means continuing to invest in impactful practices. It’s a thrilling challenge, and we’re ready to meet it head-on.”

“I’m really excited to be a part of the B Corp community because it ties us to something way bigger than just our own operations. It feels good to be one of the ‘good guys’ actively driving change.

As a B Corp, we’re dedicated to walking the talk and using MP&Co as a force for positive change. It sounds cliche but personally, I’m incredibly motivated to “be the change I want to see in the world” — especially for my daughter’s future and for the wellbeing of our planet. Being part of a movement that drives change for people and the planet just seems like a no-brainer and I hope we inspire others to follow suit.”

“The whole premise of business, in my view, is that starting one inevitably involves using — and often depleting — the world’s resources, whether it’s land, energy or even capital. I believe that every business has a responsibility to give back to the world, to somehow replenish what we take.

Having B Corp accreditation demonstrates that a business is committed to this effort in some way. For me, this is crucial because as someone involved in a successful business, I’m aware that we’re extremely fortunate. Many people would love to have a stable job or be part of something meaningful. This privilege comes with a duty to contribute positively, and that’s why B Corp certification is so important to me.”

“Being a B-Corp is important to me because I like to know that the work I do has meaning and purpose, and the business that I’m part of shares this ethos. It’s great to be recognised as a B Corp as it shows that the work that we’re doing is genuinely inspiring good and isn’t just about making a profit.

Whether it’s working with our clients who encourage ethical banking, or a business who enables conservation through travel, or a not-for-profit who empowers mental health support, it’s refreshing to work alongside businesses who make a difference. Our B Corp status means that we have the opportunity and responsibility to lead on projects that can drive change, which isn’t always the case in your standard marketing consultancy.”

“For me, it’s knowing that the business I’m a part of cares about the society and the world we live in. MP&Co has always practised the values of a B Corp, so being recognised for that and getting confirmation that we’re indeed going in the right direction is very reassuring. It’s about more than just doing good work; it’s about doing good in the world.”

People, Planet, Profit… in that order, always. We prioritise the wellbeing of our team and our community first, creating a positive impact on the planet with every step we take. Financial success is important, but it comes after our commitment to people and the environment. This alignment with B Corp values reaffirms our mission and keeps us motivated to continue making a difference.”

“I’m proud of our B Corp certification because it underscores our commitment to caring about people. Addressing mental health as a global issue is crucial, and our certification reflects our dedication to this cause.

We need to improve how corporations handle mental health and get rid of toxic work environments. It’s important to celebrate the abilities of those with mental health challenges, not see them as burdens. At MP&Co, we know tough times can affect anyone, so we work together to support our team.

This commitment also means being kinder to our planet, creating a healthier environment for future generations, including my sister and nieces. We’re working to improve how we treat each other and the planet, changing how we do business.”

“For me, it really boils down to the environment (though I love that B Corps focus on other areas, like people too). Addressing sustainability should be a basic practice for every business, especially with the serious environmental issues we currently face.

As part of the corporate world, it’s crucial that we contribute positively. Looking at our B Corp badge, I see it as a call to action to other businesses, almost like saying, “Hey, join us — it’s one of the most significant actions your business can take.” We owe it to ourselves and to future generations to stop being a part of the problem.

I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved and the example we’re setting. Talking about our B Corp status with colleagues, friends and family is rewarding. And it keeps the dialogue alive, pushing us to continue our efforts.”
